Frequently asked
questions.

Clear answers about suitability, performance, installation, care, removal and warranty. The final recommendation always depends on the actual surface.

Understanding SPF

What is Surface Protection Film?

SPF is a transparent engineered layer installed over a compatible finished surface. It helps reduce everyday scratches, stains, spills and abrasion while keeping the original material visible.

Is SPF the same as automotive PPF?

The underlying technology may be related, but architectural surfaces require different compatibility checks, preparation, moisture control and edge finishing. Automotive claims are not automatically applied to stone or furniture.

Is the film completely invisible?

It is designed to be highly transparent and discreet, but every film adds a physical layer. A slight change in gloss, reflection, texture or colour depth may be visible in certain lighting.

Is the film scratch-proof?

No. SPF resists everyday scratching and abrasion. Knives, sharp metal, dragging heavy objects or excessive force may cut through it.

Surfaces & suitability

Which surfaces can be protected?

Selected marble, granite, quartz, quartzite, onyx, sintered stone, glass, acrylic, laminate, stainless steel and finished furniture may be suitable. Final suitability depends on the actual finish and condition.

Can it be applied to every stone or piece of furniture?

No. Unsealed porous stone, damp surfaces, raw wood, weak polish, damaged lacquer and exposed MDF or veneer edges may not be suitable.

Can I see a sample first?

Yes. Samples are recommended for premium, unusual or sensitive surfaces. A successful sample confirms initial appearance and compatibility, not automatic long-term performance.

Can existing surfaces be protected?

Yes, when the finish is stable and adequately prepared. Existing scratches, stains or coating defects will remain visible beneath the film.

Performance & care

Does it protect against stains and marble etching?

The covered area forms a barrier against many common spills. Liquids can still reach exposed edges, joints, cut-outs or uncovered areas and should be wiped promptly.

Does the film self-heal?

Selected TPU grades can reduce the appearance of light surface marks under moderate warmth. Deep cuts, punctures and scratches do not self-heal.

Is it heat-resistant?

Selected films tolerate normal indoor use and moderate warmth. Hot cookware, irons and heated appliances must not be placed directly on the film; use a trivet or mat.

Is it waterproof?

The covered area is water-resistant, but SPF is not a waterproofing system. Water can enter through exposed edges, sink cut-outs, joints or damaged sections.

How should it be cleaned?

Use a soft microfibre cloth with water or a mild pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid abrasive pads, metal scrapers, strong acids, solvents, undiluted bleach and harsh degreasers.

Installation & appearance

Can round or oval tables be covered seamlessly?

A single-piece top is possible when it fits within the selected film width. Deep curved edges may need a controlled setback or separate perimeter strip.

Can a large surface be covered without a seam?

Only when it fits within the film width and length. Oversized surfaces may require a planned seam whose position is approved before installation.

Will installation water or gel damage the surface?

The method is adapted to the material. Moisture is controlled around porous stone, open joints, veneer, MDF, electrical fittings and sensitive edges; reduced-moisture methods may be used.

How long does installation take?

A straightforward tabletop may take a few hours. Large counters, multiple surfaces, complex edges or preparation may require additional time and curing.

Removal, warranty & pricing

Can the film be removed?

Professional removal is intended from a compatible, stable surface. The result depends on adhesive age and the condition of the sealer, PU, lacquer or polish underneath.

Will it leave residue?

Correct removal of suitable film should minimise residue, but interaction cannot be ruled out on aged coatings, porous stone or weak furniture finishes.

How long will it last?

Service life depends on the selected film, exposure, cleaning products, use frequency, edge design and maintenance. The expected term is stated in the quotation.

What does the warranty cover?

The quotation distinguishes manufacturer coverage, workmanship coverage and exclusions. Cuts, misuse, direct heat, harsh chemicals, edge moisture, substrate failure and existing defects are generally excluded.

How is pricing calculated?

Pricing considers film consumed, roll width, wastage, preparation, surface shape, edge complexity, cut-outs, site location and quantity. Some tables are priced by material length rather than visible area alone.
